Your room is set up. So why is nobody talking?
It is not you, and nobody is ignoring you. Most people read for a while before they say anything. What gets them talking is a small, easy question. Here are 30 of them, written for your topic, plus the words for nudging one quiet member, and a month of posts filled in before you leave.

Step 1
The swap
For my first two weeks I announced things and heard almost nothing back. The first reply I got was to a question. Here is the same post written both ways. The one on the left tells people to watch. The one on the right asks them in.

Step 2
Your 30 questions
Pick your topic, then tick your 12 favorites. They drop straight into your month in step 4.
My community is about…

Post the question, then answer it yourself first so nobody walks into a blank thread. Want to write more? Try these hook shapes or the four-part AI prompt.
Step 3
The one-person nudge
A room gets louder one person at a time. Pick one quiet member this week and send them one of these. Swap in their name. Do not pitch anything. You are just letting them know somebody noticed.
Hi [name], I saw you joined last week and wanted to say hello properly. What made you decide to come in?
Hi [name], I am planning next week’s posts. Is there one thing you would like me to cover?
Hi [name], no need to post if you would rather read for now. That is how most of us start. I just wanted you to know I am glad you are here.
Step 4
Four weeks, filled
Three questions a week: Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Your picks land here in the order you chose them. Short of 12? Let me fill the gaps with a good mix: easy wins on Mondays, stories on Wednesdays, and opinions or stuck questions on Fridays.

When I opened my free community at 57, I did what I thought you were supposed to do. I wrote the welcome post, set up the classroom and announced it. Then nothing. For two weeks I posted into the quiet and wondered if I had built something nobody wanted. Then one member replied, to a question, not an announcement. That is when I stopped telling and started asking. You have spent decades making people feel welcome at kitchen tables and in break rooms. A good question is the same skill, typed out.
